A general comment on Iomega margins. I recently got a new machine with an internal ATAPI Zip drive. I couldn't resist the urge to take the ZIp drive out and "dissect" it.

Very simple snap together enclosure. Single piece plastic mechanism for receiving the cartridge. Overall it appears to be a low cost, easy to assemble mechanism. Material and assembly costs should be relatively low for this unit. They can definitely make money at OEM pricing ($60-$70) on this drive.

P.S. The Zip drive still worked after I put it back together.
