Bruce - I think you answered your own question - why close if I don't need the margin room and no possibility of having it put to you - enjoy ! BYW - E*Trade is useless re option questions - got myself "extended" early January in writing too many puts for my account - they warned me about a margin call - and said I could not close the puts by buying them back but rather had to depositi cash - as if I would ever take that route; that suggestion was totally ridiculous and goes to show you what "green beans" they have on their help line. I am also getting tired of their $29 commissions for options.
