There is no blood trail to the crime scene. If the body were transported to the scene it would probably have been done in a vehicle....leaving one to presume that a murder using your scenario would have been at least a couple of blocks away.

The fact that there is no blood trail leads me to believe that the murder was either at the found location of the body or at a remote location followed by a vehicle transport to the scene.

I believe the number of stab wounds with the majority to the head indicate an emotional tie to the victim. The head is not soft tissue and would not be a good target if someone wanted to kill efficiently. It is not easy to stab through bone. I do not see why fear would provoke such an attack...anger or hate or irrationality IMO.
