Zeev, a pretty old article but there is some information on the topic..

Superconductor R&D Blows Hot and Cold
December 31, 1994

With a better receiver and transmitter circuit, more signals can be carried within a given bandwidth. But a typical microwave communications system already contains a large number of RF filters to sort out signals. Each of these filters consumes a large amount of power and occupies as much space as a small garbage can. What superconductors can do for cellular phone companies is provide smaller, more reliable filters that will allow them to get from six to 12 additional channels out of existing installations. As a retrofit business, superconducting RF filters could be a winner. Each cell of a cellular system--about 10,000 cells nationwide--would use from two to six filters.

It must have been the last conference call in which the CEO
Charles Shalvoy was asked about the ramp-up. He said that
Conductus could not meet demand if the ramp-up is too fast.
That statement is too general to be of any use, but it is clear that they do not have much manufacturing capacity.
If memory serves he also mentioned that Conductus might be starting manufacturing in Japan. I did not take notes on the call and can't find any link to it either. In fact, I now even doubt whether it was a conference call, rather than just a chat on some radio show.

In the yearly report this was mentioned.
-- During 1999 we expanded into the Japan market, by announcing a
strategic alliance with Seki Technotron as our distributor, and began
shipping multiple units of the world's highest performance thin-film,
superconducting wireless systems to four customers for qualification
testing for potential 3G deployment.

-------------
From a little I have investigated Seki is only a sekitech.com
distributor and does not engage in manufacturing.

Would you say that is right? As you mentioned to me a few weeks ago
Conductus has been a developmental stage company for a number of years. For that reason it may not have much manufacturing capacity in place.
