Dear Richard: I do not think the _Barron's_ article had anything to do with the price move on Friday. _Barron's_ has had similar articles valuing SEG's holdings in VRTS and other securities in the past without any significant moves before (Friday) or after the article.

There has been a great deal or conjecture and speculation about the SEG:VRTS relationship since last year. On Friday things took a turn when the rumors were reported in print as well as on one of the TV stations [MSNBC or CNBC??--someone at Raging Bull relayed what was broadcast on TV].

Basically, hopes and speculations have turned the rumors from SEG spinning-off some of its VRTS shares to SEG shareholders to VRTS buying-out SEG! There is nothing but peoples hopes and dreams behind either scenario but just as when we are in bank stock merger mania periods, take-out candidates get bid up by the market [VRTS taking-out SEG rumor]. Likewise, look at how people play stocks going into splits and/or about to IPO something 'hot' [SEG spinning of some of its VRTS shares to it's shareholders].

SEG has double wammie rumors propelling it's share price up. What we SEG **investors**, people who have held our shares since _before_ the era of big-time SEG rumors have to face is that the price of SEG could drop just as fast as it has risen should SEG decide to comment on either rumor.

Corporation do not comment on rumors? Well, CPQ earlier this year when the rumor that HWP was buying it out was swirling around.

Regards,

Lynn
