Patrick, Don't be so circumspect, are you just hearing some suggestions, as in "Hey, here's one that might be worth a look-see" or are you hearing suggestions such as "Wow, here's a winner that's going places"? Internap Network Services (INAP) has an SI thread; all the info is there. I'm always leery of jumping on net stocks that have recently made big moves, such as INAP has (from 19.5 last Sept to a recent high of 100.5, currently at 91), but then that has kept me from some of the big gains people like you and AV have racked up with semi stocks such as Rambus. INAP only had revs of 12.5 m in 99, but according to some published estimates could see huge, huge gains over the next few years. They have a pretty impressive list of customers, incl. Amazon, Datek, Go2Net, MindSpring, the Nasdaq and others, but then why are the revs still so small? Faster, more reliable internet connectivity is obviously going to be more and more important to business, so maybe they've really got something. One poster on the INAP thread pointed out that on one day recently when the net came to crawl, Amazon was down for 19 min, but Yahoo was down for hours, implying that the difference was that the former is an INAP customer and the latter is not.
Definitely on my radar screen now, but please, how strong are the suggestions you're hearing and how much do you respect the sources? I know you've got some good connections to knowledgeable people; is this from one of them? Or is it from your gardner? Best, Papillon |
