Why do the Police have such a "fixation" on your friend that they forego all else?????

I don't know the guy. He is Jeff's friend.

I do not share the view that the police have fixated on Jim to the exclusion of everyone else. I also do not share the view that the police have acted like idiots.

According to the Yale Daily News there have been efforts to gather information from the community.

Investigators have picked over the murder scene three times. Neighbors and students have been interviewed and re-interviewed. Police have enlisted a world-renowned forensics expert and the FBI to help create a profile of the killer all apparently to no avail.

"We had a meeting shortly after the murder with the police," neighborhood resident Mrs.********said.

This past week, the Ronan-Edgehill neighborhood association sent out approximately 230 newsletters to community members living near the crime scene.

Despite the persistence of some community members, news agencies and investigators, most residents said they didn't have to change their lives to avoid the media circus or questioning.

The police have been operating under the assumption that Jovin knew her killer. I believe this is in part from the FBI profile...I believe Dr Lee also indicated something similar. Some on this thread share the view.

Jim seems to be one of the suspects left after others were ruled out for various unknown reasons..many with alibis.

The public focus on Jim seems to be spearheaded by the media. I do not think the police have ever publicly directly named Jim as a suspect except as a response to media questions. Under media pressure they have indicated that Jim still can not be ruled out as a suspect. The media just keeps on repeating the same lines each time they add a little to their story.

The police have been rather tight lipped about their evidence and their suspects so we don't know who else and to what degree other suspects are involved.
