But I can state one thing I fully believe: I don't believe you can use past valuation methods to fairly estimate the future value of a lot of the up and coming companies.

i disagree because the purpose of a business is to generate cashflow. i agree that the wild valuations are put on alot of the new economy companies because nobody is really sure just how vast the net will grow or even what it might morph into. but through time it'll become clearer and some sort of model will be used. e-tailers are into that realm right now. eventually, all companies must generate a positive cashflow or cease to exist.
