dppl:

I didn't make my day to read your post; I just invested last week. I hope that your comments prove to be over gloomy.

I think the idea here is that VRSN will be well positioned to sell services to companies and individuals at the moment that they register new domain names. This means that customer acquisition costs for VRSN will go down while they more quickly penetrate the universe of potential customers.

I think it is very risky to assume that these two companies whose businesses closely track Internet adoption are poor investments. I also think that failure to answer phone calls or respond quickly to new business are actually bullish. Remember when AOL could not handle subscriber growth a few years ago and had to cut off connections to preserve bandwidth? If you had shorted them at that time due to your "bad service" logic you would have lost your shirt. If you had owned AOL at the time and sold you would have missed a great opportunity.
