Levi, Ray & Shoup Adopts StarBase Solution to Manage Custom Development Process for PensionGold;StarTeam's Internet-Based Global Collaboration was the Deciding Factor

March 13, 2000 08:48 AM
SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 13, 2000--StarBase Corp. SBAS , a leading provider of eCollaboration solutions for the development and management of eBusiness applications, Monday announced that Levi, Ray & Shoup Inc. (LRS), a $100 million information technology services firm with headquarters in Springfield, Ill., has adopted StarTeam Enterprise to manage the development of PensionGold(R), LRS's client/server defined benefit pension fund administration software.

Levi, Ray & Shoup's initial purchase standardizes PensionGold's development efforts on StarTeam.

The PensionGold team, facing growing development demands, had outgrown the capabilities of their existing development management environment. A key factor in their selection of StarTeam was its team collaboration and Internet architecture; meeting the needs of the team today and in the future, to support the development of Web-based applications.

StarTeam also provided a superior solution to the complex build process involved with PensionGold. This process had become time consuming, labor intensive for the development team, and difficult to manage. The implementation of StarTeam brought a new level of efficiency and control to the build process resulting in a 50% reduction in the time needed to complete the cycle.

StarTeam's command line interface and optimized levels of performance enabled this improvement, allowing the development team to focus their efforts on enhancing the PensionGold product and delivering custom client solutions. StarBase's professional training and services group were key to the speed of the implementation to enable PensionGold developers to rapidly incorporate the StarTeam technology into their existing development process.

"Our unanimous choice was StarTeam because it provided all the tools necessary to more efficiently manage and control the current development process. In addition, StarTeam can grow with us as we move to the Internet since it was the only solution we found that was obviously built and designed from the ground up for the Web," stated Dan Jordan, manager, PensionGold technical services. "StarTeam has the right architecture -- a match for our needs now and in the future."

"Our customers want to exploit the opportunities presented by the Internet. They require a solution that supports traditional and Web application development, and the content associated with corporate Web sites," commented Lydia Patterson, vice president StarBase products group. "StarTeam is perfectly positioned to address these needs. It was built and designed to manage Web-enabled applications while providing a robust solution for traditional application development."

In addition to using StarTeam for the development of their own product, the PensionGold team recommends StarTeam to customers who license PensionGold source code, thereby improving the customer's ability to manage and support that development.
