**OT** Mahindra-British In INCA Software Deal With Brit Telecom

BOMBAY (Dow Jones)--Mahindra-British Telecom Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding with British Telecommunications PLC (BTY) to provide its new product INCA, an interconnect billing solution, to telecommunications operators in the Asia-Pacific region and North America.
Mahindra-British will market and provide product engineering and implementation services, the company said in a statement. Mahindra-British is a joint venture between Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (P.MAM) and British Telecom formed in 1998.
"The inclusion of a leading interconnect billing solution like INCA will further strengthen Mahindra-British's presence and position as a preferred supplier of telecom software solutions," Kiran Deshpande, managing director of the company said in a statement.
Deshpande said that Mahindra-British Telecom, an approved supplier of software solutions for British Telecom, currently has 2,200 software engineers. In 2000 the company's revenue is expected to rise to $60 million, from $44.24 million last year.
Deshpande said the new product INCA will bring in roughly GBP1 million in revenues over the next 18 months.
On the Bombay Stock Exchange, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra closed up INR27.50, or 8%, at INR371.75. |
