I think that politicians should make it a regular practice to denounce groups that invite them to speak. It would make for some interesting fireworks. Heck, the next time a politician speaks before a Catholic audience, he can attack restricting the priesthood to men; the hierarchy's pro-life position; a negative attitude towards homosexuality; and maybe take a position on the controversy swirling around Pius the XII. When he goes before an Orthodox Jewish audience, he can denounce the segregation of the sexes in synagogue; a negative attitude towards homosexuality; the restriction of the rabbinate to men; and maybe demand to know their position on Israeli exemptions for military service for yeshiva students, or the "who is a Jew" controversy. Gee, if the McCain standard were applied uniformly, no one would be elected in New York again!
