Elmer - Re: "Do you see AMD knocking on Intel's door with hat in hand asking to license SSE? Is Intel obligated to do so?"

No.

AMD has already COPIED many of the new SSI instructions in their AthWiper chip. They won't ADMIT it, but its TRUE !

These are machine instructions, and AMD can copy them as long as they are implemented independently.

I would imagine that ThumperTurd has ALL the SSE instructions copied.

That's why I think Willamette is SO COOL - it has EVEN NEWER SSE instructions that AMD will have to COPY ALL OVER AGAIN in some new chip - maybe their SludgeHumper !

Remember the Famous Words of Sicko Sanders: "Competition is GOOD !!!"
