I don't see anything wrong with the theory, but I can't claim to be an expert. I would ping TLC. I am sure that A@P would also have some insight into the internal mechanisms of the short squeeze.

But I think that the first wave of covering would then be followed by further shorting, which of course would accelerate the rally if the demand persisted.
