Forced volunteerism has absolutely nothing to do with what I was talking about. What I am saying is: 1.if the government is going to keep people from starving in the streets, lets require something form those people in return 2.If you must rely on the government, as a child on a parent, then the government has the right to treat you as a child and require certain behaviors from you. As a taxpayer I am willing to pay for things I think will improve not only the physical infrastructure of our country but also the human infrastructure. The alternative is to do nothing, are you advocating that? If I wanted to live in a place where the haves live behind barbed wire and the have nots kidnap the haves for money, I'd move to Latin America.
