Still reads tentative at this point. From the language you have to suppose that the focus is on actuated suspensions and or preamp chips near the head, not just better cheaper traces. In any case, its a shot across HTCH's bow, not surprising given how big a customer SAE has become to HTCH.

Between the lines one can read a real reluctance by Magnecomp to commit their own capital, and off to the side KRP doesn't have any left to commit. If HTCH is going to have long term competition it would look like the competing capital is going to be sourced from deep pockets like TDK/SAE, Seagate, and maybe IBM.

There is still too much mystery for me in which specific wireless suspension technology is working well with which specific drive programs. Until I see HTCH's TSA/conventional mix becoming materially richer I have to suppose competing technologies remain in play.

But its nice to see some broad strength in the DD sector isn't it? Looks like some positive surprises might be on the horizon after all. JIT for RDRT, wonder if they'll reprice the convert ratio yet one more time :o)

Best Regards....Tom
