Any politically motivated study is of less use than a nonpartisan one. That's a tautology. Unfortunately, in social sciences, human beings being innately political, nonpartisan studies are rare. BTW, statistical studies are one of the most powerful tools used in modern science! But at least in a study one has to adopt some sort of formal frame of argument, whereas the Web journalists have perfected the art of waving hands as a substitute.
