JDN - In terms of overall storage revenue, or even number of terabytes sold, CPQ and IBM both outsell EMC, and CPQ may actually be number one. But when you take away the "captive storage" (storage sold with servers) and look at storage sold for the new paradigm of vendor-independent storage, EMC is the runaway winner - they invented the category.

Both CPQ and IBM have good products and are developing the related software and architecture to make a run at EMC. two years ago I thought they would eat up that market but EMC has shown a lot of hustle. Still, IBM and CPQ have deep technology reserves and that huge installed base. Storage will be a big opportunity for all three.
