Neocon, this is nothing. It happens at every soccer game everywhere in the world (except in the US of course where kids grow up with a baseball bat or basketball or football). Kids in Europe grow up playing the sport (like I did) and aspire to be soccer stars like kids here aspire to be Jordan or McGwire. Usually the kids have no Sega or Play stations to goof off so soccer remains the only escape from a "boring" routine. Going to the game on Sunday and cheer for the team you support is usually the most exciting thing you wait for during the week. That is where lots of people tend to "destress" all their frustrations built up during the week. And that is where these so called "hooligans" tend to do all these unforgivable acts and they do it for one reason only: ATTENTION.

That is why the new rules play in to what they always wanted...just like the FBI here is making hackers like coolio, etc. stars...

It is a different mentality in Europe, soccer matters A LOT! It is really hard for people here to grasp this here...I still remember my hometown team winning the Greek Championship years ago (I traveled back to be there) and it remains one of the happiest moments of my life. After that championship it was all downhill:(
