Tape not digital?

Although I am not so well grounded in technology as other areas, I believe it is elemental that tape is as much a digital medium as any of the others you mentioned. Data can be, and is, stored digitally on many media, including tape.

The key difference, among others, is as it has always been, how data is stored and accessed, i.e., tape being sequentially and disk being randomly accessible.

If I am incorrect about this I would welcome the information.

Regards
