In spite of recently adding 128megs RAM to my existing 128megs, I still seem to be unable to operate with all of the applications open that I would like...in fact, as others have noted, I notice very little improvement at all...

Stretching here, but go to the BIOS and see if you have "Memory hole at 15M" enabled. Other then that, see if the BIOS actually reports 256Megs. Are you over clocking anything? Also, verify that you are allowing windows to have a virtual memory. Resource Meter suggests that your virtual memory is to low... you may have it disabled.
