malcolm...."always as many buyers as sellers"

sounds logical to me and quite simplistic...but if everything neutral, all would be a zero sum game...

the question i pose to you is not the balance of buyers to sellers, but: at what price must the buyer buy, and the seller sell in relationship to a pre established and contracted strike at expiration?

the price differential(and hedging attempts by the option trader) causes the skewing which negates any neutral result.
