Rob,
I don't own DLJ. When I had problems yesterday, I went looking for info. This was as good a place as any. I also have been with DLJ forever, longer than you have. There have been problems for some time now, yesterday just was the worst. I also basically like DLJ, but that does not mean I should be happy if I cannot place trades, either lose money or lose the opportunity to make money. It really does not matter why they have problems, the end result is the same.
You obviously don't trade much and have not lost any money because of those problems or you would talk very differently.
Placing an order by phone is out of the question for trading, I waited 50 minutes yesterday to talk to someone, Trade Talk was down too.
I do understand that all on-line firms have their problems now and then, but this has gone on for too long. I had problems this morning again.
The least DLJ can do is explain to their customers what the problem is and apologize.
Thank you for the tip to place limit orders. <g> Why should I not be able to change my order? I often change my sell order to a higher price when the stock is moving well. And why not cancel? It is necessary sometimes.
I wish you luck with your investments.
Renate
