[March 14, 2000--MUMBAI] Indiantelevision.com, India's first B2B and B2C portal for the cable, satellite and terrestrial television business, has just been launched.

Promoted by freelance writer Anil Wanvari, the portal was inaugurated by Indian media baron and chairman of Zee group Subhash Chandra.

"Indiantelevision is aiming to be a one-stop source for everything related to India's booming television industry, which has an estimated turnover of US$1.6 billion per annum," said Wanvari.

"The key word is generation of feedback and e-commerce for both Indian television and clients who choose to join us as partners," he added.

While the initial investment in the portal has been made entirely through personal funding by Wanvari, in due course of time the company will be seeking US$2.3 million venture capital funding by offloading a part of its equity to strategic business partners.

At a later stage, the company will also consider an IPO to fund future growth.

The B2B section targets television broadcasting, advertising, media/marketing professionals, students, researchers and governments interested in this dynamic business that encompasses free satellite channels, pay TV channels, terrestrial television and cable TV.

The B2C section will feature news and information, chat sessions with TV stars, and online contests and games related to TV programs -- with prizes to be won.

The site already offers a subscription driven e-mail newsletter called 'The Indian Cab&Sat Reporter'.
