I don't think investors really understand the situation regarding making information available free. What will be made available is the MAP of the Human Genome. Then what various companies do with this information will be THEIR PROPRIETARY INFORMATION that they will patent. It's sort of like all of us having access to the same company data for stocks, but we all won't get rich just because we have it. It will depend on how we USE the data. Companies will use the Human Genome info in various ways to come up with cures for disease, etc., and that is proprietary information that they'll be able to patent. We're just at the beginning of this new technology. Genome stocks should do very well in years to come as cures or ways to prevent disease are found. Someone tell me if they see it any other way.
