Buddy Pickle gave futuristic keynote address at www.broadband-wireless forum this morning. Steve Hooper was
non-visionary. Both acknowledged that 2G PMP gear is needed
as current not much and using PTP predominately. Bob McCambridge was strong on 4 person panel that also included HighSpeed.com, MTP/Touch America and CenturyTel. Panel sees
PMP good for 2-10 Mbps customer but PTP remaining critical
for DS-3/OC-3 customers and DSL for <2 Mbps. PTP best for
wholesale customers (CLEC, ISP, ASP, IXC)and PMP for retail
business relationships. No mention of TB scare, some recognition that BLECs (building clec) have a place and will
be wholesale customers too.
