Akshay Software, Easyspace tie up

Akshay Software in association with Easyspace of UK will offer Internet domains and 25 mb of Web space at a cost of Rs 690 per annum in India. Easyspace is the first UK company to be registered and fully operational by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and approved by the United States Department of Commerce.

SOL plans tie-up with Satyam Infoway

Cerebra ties up with Anytech Inc

Cerebra Integrated Technologies Ltd, an IT solutions company, has tied up with the US-based Anytech Inc to execute e-commerce projects - both on-site and offshore - for the global market. Focussing on the B2B aspect, Anytech would front-end the marketing deals for Cerebra in the United States of America, a Cerebra release said. Under the terms of the agreement, Cerebra would provide Anytech with all technical skills and infrastructure to execute offshore projects at its development centre in Bangalore.

Cyber Space in pact with Lotus

Cyber Space Infosys has signed an agreement with Lotus Corp to support latter's products. Cyber Space has pumped in an investment of Rs 4-5 crore to a support centre in Mumbai to prepare it for the requirement from Lotus clients. The localisation and customisation of Lotus products by Cyber Space is expected to bring in a revenue of Rs 45 crore to the turnover and it hopes to gain around 40 per cent.

BSS Software zeroes in on distributors

BSS Software has appointed distributors in Ghana and Singapore for its Golden Nuggets, an HR software package for small and medium enterprises. In Ghana, it will work with Financial Analysts and Management while in Singapore, the partners are Advanced Intelligent. The company has appointed dealers in Mumbai and other cities.

US launches cybercrime Web site

The US justice department unveiled a Web site to pull together information on its growing battle against cybercrime. The Web site, at www.cybercrime.gov, includes press releases, officials' speeches, testimony to Congress, legal texts and Justice Department reports among other things. Also included is information on prosecuting electronic intruders, intellectual property piracy, searching and seizing computers and encryption, privacy.

Compaq in novel tie-up with Rediff

Compaq Computer India has announced a unique tie-up with Rediff.com whereby three keys of Compaq's new feature enriched Internet keyboard will lead directly to three segments of the Rediff portal. Daily Destination, Instant Search, and Retail Central are the three keys which will connect to deliver Rediff's services to Compaq user.

Airtel in pact with ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank

Airtel has announced its alliance with ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank for mobile banking services and also with ICICI Bank for credit card payment services.

BBC exclusive in India

BBC Worldwide has licensed the BBC branded block, BBC Exclusive, to Broadcast Worldwide in India. Signed at BBC Showcase, this deal is a double first for BBC Wordlwide - it is the first BBC branded block to be broadcast in India and the rest of South Asia, and is also the first time BBC programmes will be dubbed into Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi and Bengali.

Indian American firms in $9.3 bn merger

IN the largest merger in the history of the software industry, two Indian American-owned firms have entered into a $9.3 billion stock-for-stock deal. The merger was between e-business solutions provider i2 Technologies Inc and a of collaborative solutions provider Aspect Development Inc. Sanjiv Sidhu is chairman and CEO of i2 and Romesh Wadhwani heads Aspect.
