Probable up days for tech stocks on Thursday and Friday.

According to CNBC, on Thursday and Friday most if not all of the index funds will have to re-allocate their investments by the close of Friday so that their holdings reflect whatever index they are tracking.

This bodes very well for AMAT and KLAC that are part of the S&P 500. Stocks that have rallied very sharply in the last three months are now a bigger part of the index than value stocks that have become a less important part. Because of this re adjustments will be necessary.

I have no idea how many index funds are out there. But the shift from one group of stocks to another by Friday means that a big upside for the semi-equipment stocks that are part of any index. Since the weighting in any index is based on market cap large companies will do especially well.

Other opinions welcome
