That's a good article. Thanks Denis. Two things really struck me.

1. "Templeton says that while the ASP market is well-suited for Citrix, the company still faces challenges as it preaches the gospel of server-based computing. These include the fundamental hurdle of explaining this new type of computing."

I hope that Citrix starts to do a more effective job of explaining things. As people become more aware of Citrix products and the capabilities, the "explaining" job may become simpler. Maybe a lot of the job is just the time it takes for potential customers to actually become aware.

My understanding of the Citrix entry into the UNIX / Solaris market is that there is a possibility that the Citrix software will establish some interoperability between Windows and UNIX operating systems. That sounds a little like Sun's vision for the "Java Virtual Machine" - and from the rest of the article, it sounds like Citrix is winning out in the "interoperability" area.

That's item 2:

"Templeton says Citrix will remain unique enough to stay atop the ASP game. 'I don't see Microsoft or Sun or anyone else stepping over to our sort of model,' he said. 'The challenges of doing so are enormous, but we're used to that.'

And with the entry into the UNIX / Solaris market, Citrix may remain unique enough to stay atop the interoperablility game. A big plus.

Thanks again for finding that article Denis.
