Downsouth,

It seems the question you are really getting at is "Why I am defending Buffet's character?" The answer is I became familiar with BRK and Buffet's reputation many years ago because my Dad invested in BRK and I ended up with a couple of BRK shares.

When BRK acquires a company like KO they always do so with the utmost confidence in management and give the CEO free reign. Gouizeto (sp?) had free reign at KO until he died as did Ivester until Buffet fired him. I would expect whoever is leading KO now also has free reign. Buffet himself is the opposite of extravagant and I am sure had nothing to do with spending big bucks for art on the walls at KO while the company was going south. For many years Buffet has been falling all over himself to apologize to shareholders for purchasing a corporate airplane for the company which he subsequently named the "The Indefensible!"

I also recall instances where BRK kept marginal businesses going simply for the sake of the employees!! Please take my word on this, I do not want to have to go back and research it.

Finally, Buffet's character and integrity is so well regarded by other top executives in America that nearly any executive would be willing to do a billion dollar deal on a handshake with Buffet---if Buffet in turn was willing to do the deal with him.

Best regards,

Huey

P.S. Thank you Downsouth, and many others on this thread with technical knowledge far greater than mine, for helping me to better understand the technical aspects of many of the companies discussed herein.
