Meade Instruments Corp. Enters Into OEM Agreement

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2000--Meade
Instruments Corp. (Nasdaq:MEAD) today announced that
TeraBeam Corp. has engaged Meade as an OEM manufacturer
of optical components and related products for use in
TeraBeam's networks.


TeraBeam is an emerging service provider for gigabit IP
connectivity in metropolitan areas. Founded in 1997,
TeraBeam is a privately held company based in Seattle.

Meade is a leading designer and manufacturer of optical
products including telescopes and accessories for the beginning
to serious amateur astronomer. Meade also offers a complete
line of binoculars for the casual observer to the serious
