[World DRAM Price] Contract Prices for 64Mb DRAMs Decline, Spot Prices Inch Up
March 15, 2000 (TOKYO) -- The 30-day rolling average prices for 64Mb DRAMs for large users fell continuously, while the daily spot prices turned around.




According to a worldwide survey conducted by ICIS-LOR, which is based in London, Houston and Singapore, the 30-day rolling average prices (Jan. 27 - Feb. 25, 2000) for 64Mb DRAM microchips (PC100, 8M x 8) for large users were US$7.53 in North America, US$7.64 in Europe and US$7.84 in Asia. Compared with the previous week's 30-day rolling averages up to Feb. 18, 2000, the prices declined by 5.47 percent in North America, by 7.57 percent in Europe and by 6.58 percent in Asia.

Regarding prices for memory module, the spot prices for 64MB dual inline memory modules (DIMMs, PC100) fell 8.71 percent from the previous week to US$47.86 in North America. Also, they declined 8.95 percent to US$48.39 in Europe and 9.13 percent to US$46.81 in Asia.

The average prices for 64Mb DRAMs are still declining. However, the spot prices turned around on Feb. 24 in North America, followed by those in Europe and Asia in the next week of Feb. 24. Supply adjustments and supply recovery of microprocessors for PCs appear to be taking effect.
