03/15 11:57A (DJ) DJ Microsoft: More Than 1M Windows 2000 Units Sold So Far
Story 3404 (MSFT, I/SOF, N/DJN, N/DJWI, N/PDT, N/WEI, M/NND, M/TEC, P/DCO...)
REDMOND, Wash. (Dow Jones)--Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) estimates that
customers have obtained more than 1 million copies of the Microsoft Windows
2000 Professional, Server and Advanced Server operating systems since the
worldwide launch less than one month ago.
The software giant said in a press release Tuesday this milestone includes
estimates from channel resellers, retail outlets and PC manufacturers, but
excludes its largest customers that have acquired licenses through enterprise
agreements.
In addition, Microsoft said its Customer Support is receiving the lowest
volume of calls per unit licensed of any previous Microsoft operating system,
indicating that customers are having an extremely positive experience
upgrading to Windows 2000, launched on Feb. 17.
