I like Bush personally more than I like Gore, also. However, I see no particular evidence of intelligence, and his lapses in speech seem to me to be more conceptual that grammar-related, which is worrisome. As for his accomplishments in life, the silver-spoon factor he shares with Gore makes such an assessment difficult. About honesty, it's a door I'm not going through right now, though I think the tale is more tangled than you imply. Most recently, we do know that McCain has some complaints on that score. As for your claim for him of compassion, the only person whose record of execution in death penalty cases rivals W's in lack of compassion is that of Bill Clinton.
