Now that the shake out is over let's get back to basics.
This was definitely an opportunity to accumulate more stock today and we won't see these prices for long. Once the dust settles it will start moving as we get closer to the end of the month.

Back to the basics.......

On the private placement....this was already calculated into the price as it takes a while to put these things together. Furthermore, these things are generally picked up by institutional investors because of minimum block requirements ( $150,000 minimum most often) and a lot of times there are requirements to buy additional stock at market price. I spoke with my broker today to discuss the deal and he had just come out of a meeting where a similar deal was being pitched by another company at $1 but you had to buy a minimum $150,000 plus 100,000 shares on the open market to participate. The long and short of it is that when this deal is sold out we will have the added backing/confidence from institutional investors not to mention the $10 million in order to keep moving forward strategically. Further acquisitions, R&D, marketing or maybe even more attractive to potential suitors ( Nortel, RIM, Lucent we can only hope...).

This investment originally came to me as a great opportunity in early March based on a lead that LAN will post a year end profit (ending 03/31/00) which would drive this stock to $8-10. This was without any knowledge of what I feel was positive news of their recent acquisition as well as the $10 mil they are raising. It's always nice to see more positive news than one anticipates and can't wait see the impact that a profit announcement will have.

Lastly, the market spaces that these guys are playing in are in favour and won't go away anytime soon. Wireless, fibre and networking are all strong sectors not to mention the fact that there are a lot of huge players in these spaces that are still hot on the acquisition trail and looking for deals and good technology to add to their war chest.

This company has turned around, re-focused, cut costs, put together a strong management team and are hungry to do well after being almost down and out. The future looks good for this one and I'm still looking for that $8-10 in the not so distant future. The smart investors are accumulating more right now and the new ones are getting a great price.

Good luck to all!
