LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 1999--GraphOn Corporation GOJO (www.graphon.com), specializing in thin, server-based software that instantly web-enables applications today announced it has acquired a U.S. patent for the remote display of Microsoft Windows applications on UNIX(R) and Linux(R) desktops with X Windows(R). .....
As a result, GraphOn has patent protection and licensing rights for the deployment of all Windows applications remoted, or displayed, over a network or any other type of connection to any X Window system. The patent includes GraphOn's WinBridge(TM) (formerly jBridge) technology that enables multi-platform access of 32-bit Windows applications over the Internet. The technology covered by the patent was originally developed by a team of engineers formerly with Exodus Technology and hired by GraphOn in May of 1998.

This was my opinion at the time, which I still maintain: #reply-12021906
Countless shops were writing/using remote access applications to X Windows platforms long before Exodus even existed. Granted most were not commercialized apps, but think Exodus could apply for, receive, and most importantly, enforce such a broad patent borders on the absurd. |
