Steven, I must make this brief for now. I have been sick in bed for 4 days now and have not yet fully recovered. If the concepts of origins were ALL taught as theories, no educated person could reasonably object. But you, yourself, have just used the term "scientific theories", and then turned around and said "creation myths". If one is a theory, so is the other. If one is a myth, so is the other. You have already shown bias, which negates any discussion from the beginning. Neither creationalism, big bang, or evolution can be proven. The discussion then turns to what one chooses to believe by faith.
Since morality is not taught enough in the home, then it must be done somewhere but, I can not condone, from a personal viewpoint, the types of morals being shown to our children by the executive and judicial branches of today. The answer to this dilemma is elusive, to say the least.
God is not as silent as you may think but, I can understand your feelings about the mere mortals that take it upon themselves to say that they speak for God. What God says is quite clear in the words of the Bible. In the past, I have railed against denominations that have taken the simple words of the Bible, and have had the gall to put their own spin on it to suit their own particular agenda. I will have to get back to this later. I am running out of steam for right now. ~H~ |
