It's Reagan Vs. Clinton, And the Winner Is
UTICA, N.Y. (Reuters/Zogby) - Forget Al and George W. for a moment, and suppose the coming election was a contest between Ronald Reagan, the man who redefined the GOP in the 80s, and Bill Clinton, who did the same for the Democratic Party during the past decade.
When presented with this exercise in a February Zogby American Values poll of 1,028 people, Americans picked Reagan over Clinton by a 47.6% to 38.2% margin.
A further 12.1% refused to give their support for either, and 2.1% were not sure.
Not surprisingly, Democratic respondents overwhelmingly chose Clinton, and Republicans went even more heavily for Reagan.
Men were solidly behind Reagan, but women favored Clinton.
