What you normally do is evaluate the benefit to your servers and then replace everything with the chosen OS, desktops included, so you don't end up supporting too many different OS's. So if a corporation wants the load balancing and failover of Win2k Advanced Server, it will buy 20000 desktop machines with Win2k Pro as required.
