With Free Installation & Service Support from U.S. Robotics' I-Team
SALT LAKE CITY, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The computer industry's leading PC Card manufacturer, U.S. Robotics Corporation (Nasdaq: USRX), today announced availability of the first Megahertz-brand ISDN PC Card Terminal Adapter (TA) for notebook computers and handheld computing devices. Combining the Megahertz PC Card TA with free local ISDN service installation support provides mobile customers with quick access to complex files and information at speeds up to four times faster than typical 28.8 Kbps modems. The result -- less waiting and higher productivity. "ISDN plays a significant role with our corporate customers as they seek to provide support to telecommuting employees and remote offices who need access to large files," said Robert Bauer, vice president of marketing for U.S. Robotics Mobile Communications Corp., a subsidiary of U.S. Robotics Corporation. "Our Megahertz ISDN Terminal Adapter offers mobile customers the highest performance solution available to meet their ISDN requirements and reinforces our commitment to alternative bandwidth enabling technologies."
The new PCMCIA card features dual Basic Rate Interface (BRI) support for two-channel ISDN connection - providing data transfers as high as 128 Kbps; simultaneous single-line ISDN and Multilink PPP. Compression support includes Microsoft (MPPC) and STAC. The Megahertz ISDN PC Card TA also supports common authentication protocols, including CHAP, PAP and MSCHAP. In addition, the PC Card provides international ISDN switch support for Australia, Europe (Euro ISDN) and Japan.
ISDN made easier through the U.S. Robotics I-Team
Megahertz ISDN PC Card buyers will receive another benefit from their purchase - the industry's only dedicated toll free number (1-888-USR-ISDN) for total ISDN solutions, with a support team known as the U.S. Robotics I-Team.
"The USR I -Team helps customers overcome the barriers normally associated with ISDN - that of installation and set-up - making the process as easy as possible," said Bauer. "With this Megahertz PC card and the I-Team, our customers can take full advantage of the speed and flexibility of ISDN right away."
The I-Team offers all U.S. Robotics ISDN customers immediate expertise and assistance to simplify their ISDN service needs. Through the I-Team's "one call does it all" approach, ISDN customers receive free service support, including:
* Working with individual customers and their local telecom provider to determine ISDN service availability
* Determining monthly service charges and installation lead times
* Coordinating line installation and service orders
* Verifying that the line is installed properly
The estimated selling price of the new ISDN Model U PC Card is $399. The ISDN Model S/T PC card, intended primarily for international markets, has an estimated selling price of $359.
