That's not quite true, you know. The problem is that his airplane, if fully loaded, would weigh more than a limit set many years ago by the Feds. He could land a smaller, much noisier plane without any problems. His complaint is that the rule makes no sense, and the SJ airport people agree with him. However, if they don't enforce the rule, the Feds could theoretically force them to give back a lot of the money used to build the airport. LE is not the only person in the country who is fighting these stupid rules, although he is the most visible person in the valley. This has been extensively covered in the SJ Murky News, and is constantly misrepresented by people that don't like Ellison.
Personally, I think that Tom Siebel and Larry Ellison have a lot to do with the success of their companies, and I just ignore the shots they take at each other. I've read quotes that imply that they are at least civil at a personal level, and so if Tom can ignore Larry's comments about running over SEBL, I think that I ought to be able to, also. |
