Petz,

<Allison Boswell Consulting, Inc. writes, "February marks AMD's worst performance in five months, as their struggle to be first to market with each new clock speed has resulted in inadequate production to meet demand. It appears INTC has shrewdly balanced its business from low-end through high-
end, while effectively putting a squeeze on AMD, as the company's unit sales have declined 27.0% sequentially. Year-over-year AMD unit sales have declined 38.7% and year-over-year market share decreased 630bps in unit share and 190bps in volume share. In addition, AMD's inventory is down 22.0% and ASP is flat." s Full Report dated February 29, 2000 from The Boswell Report.>

Looks like this guy is jumping to wrong conclusions based on flawed data.

What is happening in the market is that major PC OEMs like Compaq, HP are increasingly going direct. Gaeway and IBM are 100% direct. That leaves EMachines too gain share on the ever shrinking retail pie. Since AMD didn't have any business with Emachines in the last few months, it may appear that Intel is gaining ground but the reality is quite the opposite.
I find this Boswell guy's analytical skills totally questionable.
