QCOM presented at ML tech forum today. President restated the position that it is not a matter of if the competition comes over to CDMA but when. Also restated position that regardless of all the speculation, if you play, you pay Qualcomm royalties.

Don't understand the BS with KYocera. If QCOM is licensing WCDMA to others, then QCOM obviously will make compatible chip sets. Also the big opportunity for Kyocera with the QPE purchase was access to the US market. I believe it bought 12% market share for $200 plus million. How much would it have had to pay to buy NOK 35% market share - which I suspect will diminish as CDMA becomes more popular and the new handsets come into the market.

At the ML conference, Sprint PCS and other wireless presenters were really bullish on the market outlook for wireless especially wireless data. Apparently Sprint pCS is the most recognized wireless brand now.
