You could still use the API which will take advantage of the Hardware's new features... You still have not convinced, as the bulk of programing is done for Direct x and OpenGL... what does it matter if T&L is hardware instead of software, the API can still used 3DNOW.

Also if the video card is taking on more of the CPU's duties what will be the need for SSE or 3DNow if the Video card is doing all the calcs.

NE1 out here a OPENGL programmer or Direct X(d3d)... I like to hear(see) your views.
