In the area of information technology the UK stands for something more

For example the BBC is the most respected source of news information in the world. BBC radio is listened to over shortwave everywhere. The Financial Times is one of the most respected sources of financial opinion in the world.

The British, I remember John Grierson's efforts in the 1930s, were at the center of the 20th Century explosion of the use of new media and technology for information. They used the newsreel like we use the internet today. A friend of mine, a brilliant animator worked on very creative projects for what was essentially a government information agency that refused to spout government propaganda.

There are many interesting British traditions (not food of course).

If Prince Charles went to see Novell, it wasn't because he was representing "thinking that must be transformed" but because the best minds in the UK advised him to visit Novell to find out what was happening.

I'm rather proud of Eric for managing such a public relations coupe and of Novell for having the technology!
