Frank, I see it's going to take a lot of work to help you. Lesson 1 - Volatility is our friend. Volatility makes stocks go up & down. Now Frank, this is the hard part - when stocks go down buy - when they go up . . . sell.

I'm making very good money Frank as are just about every one here. During the big selloff yesterday I lost, oh about $380. Regarding the Dow going up, I'm very happy for the folks that hopped over there and made money the last few days. So I'd tactfully suggest you have a personal problem.

Regarding Biotech. I'd be happy to discuss this with you but I have a feeling you're not very up on the situation. I'll be honest, I haven't invested in Biotech. You see Frank I feel like I need a basic knowledge in the area I invest in. I bought a Molecular Biology of the Gene text but then realized I needed more Biochemistry so I had to get a hold of one of those texts but then I found my organic chemistry has faded so I figure by summer or fall I'll be ready to invest in Biotech.

I have followed the arguements through various journals as best I can regarding the controversy of what should and should not be patentable. Somehow I don't think your up on that discussion. In fact I wonder if you even are aware of the publicly funded "high resolution" human genome project vs the privately funded "low resolution, shotgun" genome project. Now Frank, I don't agree with everything Clinton does, but your critic of his comments are likely based on complete ignorance of the subject.

Most of the Biotech executives have already explained the difference between patents on raw genetic data and patents on processes and functions that can lead to improvement of the human condition. If you haven't followed that - you really should reconsider investing in Biotech.

Lastly, regarding government involvement in technology. I'd be surprised if anyone here could argue with the important role government directed research and seed money plays in the fundamental research that leads to tech advances in the most basic way. The government certainly has a role in reviewing the processes by which IP is granted. Rich
