Hello Ptanner,

The instant AMD might try to implement/emulate/comply with SSE is the instant AMD becomes willingly subject to its "old" problem. That is, when Intel chooses to change the SSE standard, AMD will spend six months to a year or more catching up with the "new" standard. Intel has used its power of controlling the standards to control the market place for years. Whenever a competitor gets too close, Intel changes the standard and leave them in the dust. This is the stuff a near monopoly of the market is based on.

Didn't Paul Engle post a few messages back about USB 2.0:

NetChip Technology and Microtek International demonstrate World's First USB 2.0 Scanner at the Intel Developer Forum Japan

How long do you suppose it will take AMD and its partners to catch up on this one? The USB 2.0 standard will probably have to be followed but I'm not sure about SSE. Right now the Athlon "Rulz" amongst the gamers. In the future I don't know if AMD will continue to "rule" but I also don't know if the X-Box will succeed or that every game writer will forsake 3D-Now!. I do know it will be a death march to let *ntel set all our standards. We tried that once!

Kindest regards,
CrazyMan
