ZIPs sell for $99 to computer makers:

Reference excerpt from: Bloomberg Company Spotlight May 30, 1996

The Zip drive now lists for about $200 retail. Some computer stores sell the drives for $174, Iomega's Becks said. Compaq said a DeskPro with an LS-120 drive costs $190 more than a similar machine with a standard drive. Prices are already starting to decline. Iomega sells its drives to computer makers for as little as $99 each, half its retail price, said Howard Rosencrans, an analyst at HD Brous & Co. High-powered drives could sell to PC manufacturers in a couple of years for as little as $25 to $30 each, Abraham said. That's still above the $18 bulk price of current floppy drives, according to Disk/Trend.
