Medsite Names Two to Senior Vice President Posts
Sharon Callahan Joins Medsite As SVP of Pharmaceutical Marketing; Douglas Present Appointed SVP of Business-to-Business Markets
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 16, 2000-- Medsite, the physician's home on the Internet, today announced the appointment of two senior vice presidents to its management team.
Sharon Callahan has joined the Company as Senior Vice President of Pharmaceutical Marketing and Douglas Present has been named Senior Vice President of Business-to-Business Markets.
Callahan brings to Medsite significant executive experience in sales, marketing and operations, with more than 15 years focused in health care communications. As SVP of Pharmaceutical Marketing at Medsite, she will spearhead the Company's efforts to help pharmaceutical companies reach and educate physicians via the Internet through a range of targeted programs.
Callahan joins Medsite from SCP Communications, Inc. As Corporate Vice President, General Manager, Projects Division at SCP, Callahan was responsible for the medical communications division, managing its promotional, educational and writing programs. She also held positions with SCP as Vice President of Sales, responsible for publishing, projects and clinical programs, as well as Director of Business Development. Callahan earned her Bachelor's degree in English from Wheaton College in Massachusetts. She is a board member and past-president of the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association, member of the Healthcare Marketing and Communications Council, The Coalition of Healthcare Communicators and the American Medical Writers Association.
As Medsite's SVP of Business-to-Business Markets, Douglas Present will lead the Company's efforts targeting large physician group practices and physician aggregators, as well as assisting in the development and launch of future products and services for that market. Present has over a decade of experience in the business side of the health care industry, most recently serving as President and Chief Operating Officer of ProMedCo of the Hudson Valley, a wholly owned subsidiary of the physician management company ProMedCo (NASDAQ: PMCO - news).
Prior to working with ProMedCo, Present founded and operated Douglas Present Associates (DPA), a leading boutique consulting firm helping physicians transition to a managed care delivery system, and the Physicians Buying Alliance (PBA), a group purchasing organization for private practice physicians. Both DPA and PBA were sold to Primergy, which in turn was sold to ProMedCo. Before that, Present was employed at Deloitte & Touche's health care consulting group, where he worked with the New York practice in the development of a provider side managed care consulting practice.
Present earned his Bachelor's degree in marketing from Syracuse University and an MBA in finance from the Wharton School of Business. |
