Dia, remember the only externally momdulated,continous lasers are produced by Hitachi,HLIT and Synchronous Comm. Theses lasers are more reliable and better tansmission capabilities. The cable companies want to use the best lasers they have to go through either HLIT or Hitachi. The others have less expensive,linear lasers,much inferior to HLIT's. Tim
